22 Jul - 28 Jul

Last week, of course was very busy.  We had 8 missionaries come in and 9 go home.

Sisters Jang and Kim

Sisters Tueller and Loo

Elders Moody and Jo

Elder Seung and Kim

And here they all are with their trainers.

And this is Elder Clark that does most of the translating.

And these are the missionaries that went home:
All excited to go home and be with family.
It's been very hot and very humid this past week.  Wayne and I are very wet by the time we get to the office and then home again.  The humidity is usually around 90 - 100%.  So when the temperature says it 75 degrees, it feels like 95 degrees.

This is what the sky has looked like for the past month.
That's all humidity you see up there.

So we are getting ready for Zone Conferences and interviews again.  It all goes by so quickly.

Love and miss you all.

15 Jul - 21 Jul

What a week!  It rained almost everyday.  Needless to say, Wayne and I were soaked most of the time.
One pair of shoes are completely ruined - for both Wayne and Me.

Sister Kim is starting a choir to perform for Stake Conferences.  They came to practice on Monday.

Elders Weech and VanWart get to sing a duet.

On Wednesday, our last District meeting before transfers, everyone bore their testimony and said goodbye to Elder Soffe.  We signed a Korean flag for him.

Elders Clark, Soffe and Seung

Sister Kim Jeonghyeon

Sister Urbano

Sisters Urbano and Evans

Elders Birrell and Guthrie

Elder Birrell really concentrating on writing something for Elder Soffe.

Afterwards we had some desserts.  I made sweet rolls and the elders bought a cake.

Everything was very good.

On Saturday, the Oncheon Ward had a talent show.  WOW, what talent.
Our MC

Elder Clark played the piano.

This is grandpa - he played the harmonica and was very good.

Elders Soffe and Kim sang and played Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Sisters Kim and Seol played a duet.

This picture and the one below is of sisters (Stake President's daughters) that played a duet and were totally awesome.  The one below is leaving on a mission in a week.

Us and the Hunters sang Old McDonald had a Farm.  It was so funny.

This young man played an instrument like a Kazoo, but it was different.

Two of the stake President's daughters sang a song from the new Aladdin.

Two of the Stake President's sons danced.

And this is everyone that came to the show.

Saturday, we had to go to the store and it was raining so hard, I thought we were going to be swept away.  Busan got over 8 inches and there was a lot of flooding down near the river.

Well, that's it for this week.
Love you and miss you all.

8 Jul - 15 Jul

Not a lot happened this week.  We did have a Sister go home early.  It was sad to see her cry, but sometimes going home is the better part.
She is a beautiful girl and I hope that she will stay strong and true to the gospel.

Now that we have 4 adults sitting here in the mission office, there is less to do than before. But we do have a good time talking and laughing.

On Saturday, we all decided to go back to Nampo and do a little more shopping for grandkids.

Sister Hunter was finding everything she needed.  They love for us to come in because we spend so much money.  In fact, when Elder Durrant and I walked through the door they smiled and welcomed us in.  It was awesome.

After shopping we were walking down the street and saw a restaurant with a name we all recognized and decided to go have lunch.

This is inside the restaurant.  Those are boomerangs hanging on the wall.
If you haven't guessed it was Outback Steakhouse - imagine that!

Anyway, it sure tasted good, and the waitresses all spoke broken English but we could understand them.

On Sunday, the Elder's Quorum President came up to Wayne and asked if he was prepared to teach his lesson today.  Wayne sorta said yes and all during Sacrament Meeting was rereading the Conference talk he thought he was suppose to teach 4 weeks ago.  Anyway, all went well or so the Elders said.

And then they told him he was speaking on the 18th of August in Sacrament Meeting and he would be the main speaker.  He's really excited!

Well, that's it for last week.
Love and miss you all.

1 July - 7 July

So we got another Senior Couple in our office this week.  They are the Hunters from Provo.  She is a nurse and he is her assistant?!?  It will be good to be able to talk with someone.
The President and Assistants and Office Elders went to the new portion of the Daejeon Mission that we received.  We received 19 missionaries also.

These are our newest missionaries.

Anyway, it was really quiet because everyone was gone.  But on Saturday, the Hunter's asked if we wanted to go with them to see the Hydrangea festival at the Taejongsa Park.  So we went for a long drive and was pleasantly surprised.  It was right on the ocean near the Busan Harbor.  We had to cross the harbor on a bridge that was way, way high above the ocean.  Praying all the time that we wouldn't have an earthquake.

It was very crowded.  People were everywhere.

So these are some pictures that we took.
It was very warm, too

Harbor - loading docks

We didn't go down to the lighthouse, but it was a beautiful sight.

These are pictures of the bridge.  It was a beautiful structure, but again, very scary.

We had to take a picture of how they move people around here.  Since everyone lives in apartments and there are no service elevators, this is what they do.
They send a flat platform up and down and pass things out through the balcony.  So they are moving people from the 14th floor.  And people in our complex are moving continuously.

Hopefully, we will get to see some more of Busan, since the Hunters have a car.

For the 4th, I made the Elders some potato salad, chicken enchiladas and zucchini bread.  And brought a bag full of cherries, too.  At least we did something.

Well, that's all.
We love you and miss you all.
